City Park Conservancy today announced the launch of its new brand campaign, Heart of the City, a community centered initiative that celebrates the role of New Orleans City Park as both a physical landmark and an emotional cornerstone for residents and visitors alike.

Spanning more than 1,300 acres, New Orleans City Park is one of the largest urban parks in the country. Beyond its size and amenities, the Park has long served as a gathering place where traditions are formed, milestones are marked, and everyday moments become lasting memories. The Heart of the City campaign reflects and amplifies that connection – shifting perception from a place people visit to a place they feel deeply connected to.

“City Park has always been more than green space – it’s where New Orleans comes together,” said Rebecca Dietz, President & Chief Executive Officer of City Park Conservancy. “Heart of the City reflects what we heard from our community – that this place is deeply personal, essential to the life of the city, and shaped by a history that we continue to learn from and grow beyond. The people featured in this campaign are the community itself – Friends of City Park Members, Dog Park members, our Community Fellows and Ideas Youth Committee participants, and neighbors who helped shape City Park 2050. As we look ahead, this campaign ensures that the story of City Park continues to evolve alongside the people it serves.”

The campaign is rolling out across multiple platforms throughout the city, highlighting relatable, everyday experiences, from quiet walks beneath the oaks to family gatherings, all reinforcing the Park’s role as a shared space that belongs to everyone.

Campaign photography was captured by New Orleans-born photographer Justen Williams, whose work is known for capturing authentic human moments and finding beauty in the everyday – bringing the spirit of Heart of the City to life.

To mark the public launch, City Park Conservancy will host two community activations:

  • Friday, March 20 (First Day of Spring): A Park-wide floral giveaway with haikus, offering visitors a simple way to pause, connect, and welcome the season as the campaign launches
  • Sunday, March 22 | 9:30am–7pm: A self-guided photo installation on the Goldring/Woldenberg Great Lawn, featuring a standalone Heart of the City display where guests can step in, capture a moment, and share it on social media

The Heart of the City campaign reflects City Park Conservancy’s broader mission to steward and sustain the Park as a vital, accessible, and welcoming space – deeply rooted in the cultural life of the region.

Members of the public are encouraged to participate by sharing their personal experiences and memories at City Park on social media using #HeartOfTheCity and tagging @neworleanscitypark.
