Imperial Woodpecker Sno-Balls Coming to the Heart of the City
August 20, 2026
New Orleans City Park is welcoming a popular New Orleans sno-ball stand this month near the City Putt miniature-golf course.
Beginning August 20, Park visitors can stop by Imperial Woodpecker at the City Putt Plaza Tuesday-Friday, 11am-7:30pm; Saturday-Sunday, 10am-7:30pm. To celebrate its arrival, Imperial Woodpecker and City Park Conservancy (CPC) have teamed up to introduce the limited-edition City Park Bloom Ball, featuring the summer flavors of hibiscus, lemon, and ginger.
“We are always looking for ways to welcome more New Orleans traditions to the Park,” said CPC President & CEO Rebecca Dietz. “City Park has always been a place where our community gathers to celebrate and experience the beauty of New Orleans, and Imperial Woodpecker is a fun, unique and delicious addition to what we can provide guests.”
Inspired by the vibrant blooms throughout City Park during the summer, the limited-edition Bloom Ball celebrates the season through both flavor and factoids. The Bloom Ball will be served in a collectible cup featuring fun facts about the Park’s summer blooms and pollinators that help them thrive. The limited-edition flavor and collectible cups will be available while supplies last.
Imperial Woodpecker will also offer popular all-natural flavors including lemon basil, strawberry basil, pineapple cilantro and watermelon jalapeño, alongside classic sno-ball flavors. Founded by New Orleans native Neesa Peterson, Imperial Woodpecker began serving the classic New Orleans treat in New York City before Peterson returned home and opened in New Orleans in 2013.
“We are so excited and honored to be part of this new chapter at City Park. Our goal has always been to create more than just a sno-ball,” said Imperial Woodpecker founder and owner Neesa Peterson. “We want to create an experience that brings people together and feels like a true part of New Orleans. Being able to serve families, visitors and the City Park community in such a special setting is something we’re incredibly grateful for. We can’t wait to make memories here and be a small part of what makes this park so special.”
In addition to its City Putt Plaza location, Imperial Woodpecker will serve sno-balls at Tad Gormley Stadium and the Quadraplex on select dates, bringing the experience to additional events and activities throughout the Park.
This season, City Park also features a variety of food vendors throughout the Park, including Chick-fil-A at Tad Gormley Stadium, Pan American Stadium and the Quadraplex, as well as Dat Dog at Tad Gormley Stadium on select dates.
City Park vendors are cashless. All purchases must be made with credit, debit, or digital payments.
