Fall Under the Spell of Evenings With Enrique at the Botanical Garden


Evenings with Enrique presented by The Helis Foundation returns October 7 to the New Orleans Botanical Garden! City Park Conservancy and The Helis Foundation invite visitors to celebrate the life and legacy of renowned artist Enrique Alférez, with live musical performances, art, and culture every
Wednesday in October from 5-7:30pm.

The Garden will extend its hours, offering all Louisiana residents free entry, courtesy of The Helis Foundation. Attendees will revel in the lively beats of local artists and ensembles while savoring dishes prepared by Chef Pat White at the Kitchen in the Garden.

Local artist Hugo Montero will unveil his Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) altar inside the Conservatory of the Two Sisters on Wednesday, October 18. The altar will remain on display through Monday, November 2. Louisiana residents receive free admission to the Botanical Garden on Wednesdays through The Helis Foundation’s Art for All initiative, where they can view the altar.

Launched in 2016, Evenings with Enrique presented by The Helis Foundation occurs every April and October to celebrate acclaimed Mexican American sculptor Enrique Alférez, whose work has become a defining part of New Orleans’ visual landscape. More than 20 of his pieces are displayed in The Helis Foundation Enrique Alférez Sculpture Garden, located within the Botanical Garden, with additional works found throughout the city in major museums and public spaces.

Evenings with Enrique is accessible to all Louisiana residents through The Helis Foundation’s Art for All initiative, which provides free admission on select days for all residents at several of New Orleans’ leading cultural institutions, including the New Orleans Museum of Art, the Ogden Museum of Southern Art, the Louisiana Children’s Museum, the Contemporary Art Center, and the New Orleans African American Museum.
