CPC Invites Public to Join Community Planning Meeting

City Park Conservancy (CPC) invites residents of all ages in the Greater New Orleans area to take part in a community planning meeting to help design a long-term blueprint for the future of the Park.

Community Engagement Meeting A, one of four upcoming interactive Park planning sessions, takes place on Wednesday, December 11, from 6-8pm, at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 1200 Allen Toussaint Boulevard. Dinner and refreshments will be provided for participants.

“This community meeting is an important opportunity for all residents and City Park users to tell us about the future they see for City Park,” said Rebecca Dietz, CPC President and CEO. “We want to ensure that the entire community is involved because it guides how we develop the plan for the Park.”

The framework for public engagement and planning through next summer is iterative and built on community input, research and planning work previously completed. At this meeting, CPC and members of the design and engagement teams will give a brief update on the process and invite community members to participate in collaborative, table-top activities to confirm core intentions for the City Park Master Plan, which have been developed from community feedback. Participants will brainstorm ways to address those intentions through existing experiences and new opportunities in the Park.

Earlier this fall, CPC launched an Ideas Youth Committee focused on deepening engagement for youth ages 15-25 and a Community Fellows program that invited residents who represent the broad spectrum of New Orleanians to serve on the planning team as project ambassadors.

Other opportunities for community members to participate include interactive pop-up events held in all five councilmember districts, three additional community meetings, and virtual engagement.

The City Park Plan will foster an innovative and thoughtful long-term proposal for the Park, grounded in serving the greater good, addressing community needs, preserving historical and cultural context, enhancing environmental resiliency and ensuring a welcoming sense of place.

This plan is made possible through a lead gift from the Greg Keller Foundation. For more information, click here.
