Costumes, candy and a little out-of-this-world magic are coming to the Heart of the City! This October, City Park’s annual family friendly Halloween fundraiser, Ghosts in the Oaks, returns for four nights of trick-or-treating, amusement-park rides and festive fun.
From October 15-18, families can explore Carousel Gardens Amusement Park and Storyland after dark, enjoy Halloween entertainment and make memories beneath the Park’s iconic live oaks. This year, we’re taking the fun to another galaxy with an outer-space theme!
Whether it’s your little one’s first Halloween or a family tradition years in the making, here’s everything you need to know before you go.
What to Expect at Ghosts in the Oaks
Your ticket unlocks an evening of Halloween fun throughout Carousel Gardens Amusement Park and Storyland. Enjoy unlimited rides on the amusement park’s 17 attractions, explore the trick-or-treat path through the Historic New Orleans Train Garden and discover activities and entertainment along the way.
Come dressed in your Halloween best and get ready for an evening filled with sweet treats, spooky surprises and plenty of opportunities to make memories together.
All that exploring can work up an appetite! Food and beverages will be available for purchase at Parker’s Pizza and Parker’s Café.
Pick Your Perfect Halloween Night
Early Admission (5–9pm): Get an extra hour to enjoy the festivities for $35
General Admission (6–9pm): Enjoy three hours of Halloween fun for $30
Children age 2 and under are admitted free. Friends of City Park Members receive $5 off general-admission tickets.
All tickets must be purchased in advance, and Ghosts in the Oaks typically sells out. Saturday early admission is already sold out, so be sure to secure your tickets for another available date before they’re gone.
Plan Your Visit
Ghosts in the Oaks takes place at Carousel Gardens Amusement Park and Storyland, with event entry at 7 Victory Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70124. Parking throughout City Park is free with spaces available near the attractions and the Great Lawn. Arrive early to allow time to park and make your way to the entrance.
Costumes are encouraged but not required, and the festivities are designed to be fun rather than frightening for younger guests. Each child receives a reusable trick-or-treat bag, so there’s no need to bring one from home.
