Swing in the Oaks Returns to City Park This April
March 30, 2026
City Park Conservancy (CPC) and the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra (LPO), once again, invite the community to swing into New Orleans City Park.
The annual spring tradition, Swing in the Oaks, returns to City Park’s Peristyle on Tuesday, April 21. The complimentary concert allows music enthusiasts to experience the GRAMMY® winning ensemble in the heart of the Park.
“One of our favorite events of the spring, Swing in the Oaks lets our community kick back, relax and enjoy some of the finest musicians the region has to offer,” said CPC President and CEO Rebecca Dietz. “We love seeing folks come out early, set up shop, and spend an incredible evening with our incredible partner, the Louisiana Philharmonic.”
The free outdoor event begins at 6pm with a performance by 125 LPO Academy students. At 7pm, the full orchestra takes the stage for a diverse program. Parkgoers are encouraged to bring their own chairs or blankets to the Great Lawn for optimal experience. Big Easy Charcuterie and Crepes a la Cart will be on site offering food options – beverages (beer, soft drinks, water and wine) will also be available for purchase.
“Being able to provide a free concert like Swing in the Oaks is one of the most meaningful ways we support our community,” said LPO Executive Director Anwar Nasir. It’s a celebration of our culture, our shared experiences, and the role music plays in bringing people together.”
The concert will feature 13 pieces, last approximately 120 minutes with one intermission, and be conducted by LPO Music Director Matthew Kraemer. As a sweet bonus, Creole Creamery will be on site distributing 1,000 free scoops of ice cream – first come, first served – to attendees.
