Evenings With Enrique Makes Its Return in October

City Park Conservancy and The Helis Foundation announce the return of Evenings with Enrique at the New Orleans Botanical Garden. Throughout October, on Wednesdays – with the exception of October 8 – from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m., guests can enjoy an enchanting evening in the Botanical Garden while listening to live performances by local Latin artists. Admission is free for Louisiana residents, courtesy of The Helis Foundation.

FOOD
No outside food and beverages allowed. Food and beverages will be available for purchase prepared fresh on site at the Kitchen in the Garden.
SPECIAL FEATURE
Local artist Hugo Montero will unveil his Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) altar inside the Conservatory of the Two Sisters on Wednesday, October 15. The altar will remain on display through Sunday, November 2. Louisiana residents receive free admission to the Botanical Garden on Wednesdays through The Helis Foundation’s Art for All initiative, where they can view the altar.
Launched in 2016, Evenings with Enrique is a bi-annual concert series each April and October honoring renowned Mexican artist Enrique Alférez, who lived in New Orleans for almost 70 years and left a lasting mark on the city’s art scene. More than 20 of his works are featured at The Helis Foundation Enrique Alférez Sculpture Garden inside the New Orleans Botanical Garden, with additional pieces on view at Ogden Museum of Southern Art, New Orleans Museum of Art, Poydras Corridor Sculpture Exhibition and throughout New Orleans City Park.
Admirers can also find Enrique Alférez: Sculptor by Katie Bowler Young at the Botanical Garden gift shop. Published by The Historic New Orleans Collection, the book chronicles the life and legacy of Alférez, made possible with support from The Helis Foundation and members of The Historic New Orleans Collection’s 2019 Bienville Circle and Laussat Society.
Year-round, The Helis Foundation expands public access to the arts through its Art for All initiative, offering free admission on select days for Louisiana residents at several of the city’s leading cultural institutions, including the New Orleans Botanical Garden, New Orleans Museum of Art, Contemporary Art Center New Orleans, Ogden Museum of Southern Art and Louisiana Children’s Museum.
